Maths at Swan Tutoring

What to expect… Maths classes based on the UK National Curriculum taught in a creative way! Concepts are well explained, and made easy to understand. At times, optional work may be set the week before as preparation, and key skills for each session are practised at the start of the lesson. Games and songs are also used to help students grasp key points and stay engaged throughout the lesson.

Ideal for... Children learning at a Key Stage 1 or 2 level. We offer 3 options; KS1 (years 1 & 2), Lower KS2 (years 3 & 4) and Upper KS2 (years 5 & 6).

What to expect...  Maths classes based on the UK National Curriculum for KS3. Lessons cover core topics including number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability, and statistics. Sessions are structured, interactive, and designed to build confidence through guided teaching, discussion, and regular practice.

Ideal for...  Students working at Year 7, 8, or 9 level who want to strengthen their maths skills and stay aligned with the curriculum in preparation for potential future GCSE study.  These classes also relieve the pressure from parents, as KS3 maths can be a daunting topic to teach!

What to expect... These classes focus on improving core maths skills, speed, accuracy, and confidence. Lessons include interactive practice with times tables, mental maths, fractions, decimals, percentages, and calculation strategies. Sessions are designed to strengthen mathematical foundations and increase students' confidence.

Ideal for... Students working at KS3 level in maths, who would benefit from extra support in developing core maths skills. Also useful to students who benefit from repetition and skill-building practice, as well as those who struggle with mental maths or times tables.

What to expect… Classes aimed at students working towards Entry Level, Level 1, or Level 2 qualifications, or for those looking to improve their practical, everyday maths skills. Lessons focus on real-life applications of maths, including percentages, budgeting, measurements, data handling, and problem solving, while helping students build confidence and independence in using maths in daily life.

Ideal for… Students who would benefit from a more practical and accessible approach to maths, particularly those who find traditional GCSE Maths challenging or overwhelming. These classes are well suited to learners looking to build confidence with maths in a supportive, low-pressure environment, while gaining useful skills for everyday life, work, and further education.
